Meet Alex - Founder of Fellside Dog Training
How I got Here
My passion for dog training started long before I launched this business.
Before joining the military, I worked a sheepdog and discovered just how rewarding it could be to communicate and work closely with dogs. That passion continued throughout five years as a military dog handler and trainer, where I trained dogs for a variety of specialist roles in demanding, real-world environments.
While that experience gave me a strong professional foundation, one of my biggest lessons came outside of work.
After rehoming an ex-working dog with severe reactivity and aggression, I found myself facing many of the same emotions my clients experience today. I invested significant time, effort and money learning how to rehabilitate those behaviours, and through patience, consistency and the right training, I saw what was possible.
That journey reinforced something I still believe today:
No matter how difficult things may feel right now, with the right guidance and commitment, meaningful progress is possible.

Experience You Can Trust
My training combines professional experience with practical, real-life understanding.
As a former military dog handler and trainer, I've worked with dogs in high-pressure environments where reliability and behaviour truly matter. That experience taught me how to assess behaviour clearly, adapt training to the individual dog and solve problems methodically.
But qualifications alone don't build trust.
What matters most is helping owners feel confident enough to continue succeeding long after our sessions have finished.
That's why every training plan is tailored to your dog, every exercise has a purpose, and I always explain not just what we're doing, but why we're doing it.
Clients often tell me they leave feeling calmer, more confident and finally equipped with the knowledge they've been looking for.
